1. Product Introduction

Corrosion coupon and retrieval tools are essential for assessing the corrosion levels within pipeline systems, providing a direct indication of the internal conditions and aiding in the effective maintenance of these critical infrastructures. However, traditional methods for evaluating corrosion typically necessitate halting production and depressurizing pipelines, which can lead to significant economic losses. In response to these challenges, our company has developed an innovative pressure removal tool that allows for the extraction of corrosion coupons without the need to shut down or depressurize the pipeline. Corrosion Coupon Retrieval Tools is predominantly constructed from stainless steel, known for its excellent resistance to both acids and alkalis as well as overall corrosion resistance. The tool operates through mechanical contact, offering sensitive and reliable performance.

4. Key Features

  • Operational Efficiency:
    • The tool’s capability to operate without shutting down the system ensures that production processes remain uninterrupted, which is critical for industries where continuous flow is vital.
    • This feature helps avoid the complex logistics and planning associated with pipeline shutdowns, thus streamlining maintenance operations.
  • Versatility Under Different Conditions:
    • Corrosion Coupon Retrieval Tools are engineered to withstand high pressures up to 45 MPa, making it suitable for high-pressure pipeline systems where traditional methods might fail.
    • It functions effectively within a temperature range of -20°C to 100°C, accommodating environments from freezing to high-temperature conditions.
    • Its compatibility with various pipe diameters (DN100 and above) allows it to be utilized in a wide range of pipeline infrastructures, enhancing its utility across different sectors.
  • Suitability for Various Media:
    • Designed to handle different types of media, the tool can work in pipelines carrying petroleum products, gas, and other non-corrosive fluids. This makes it a versatile asset in industries like oil and gas, where different sections of the pipeline may carry distinct products.
  • Durable Construction:
    • Constructed primarily from stainless steel, the tool offers robust resistance to physical and chemical wear. Stainless steel’s inherent properties ensure that the tool remains resistant to the corrosive elements it encounters inside pipelines.
    • The use of PTFE coatings on critical components like the Hammer Nut and Service Valve further enhances its durability by providing additional resistance against chemical attack and reducing friction during operation.
  • Safety and Reliability:
    • The tool’s design prioritizes safety by minimizing direct human interaction with the high-pressure internals of the pipeline, thereby reducing the risk of accidents during maintenance procedures.
    • It also provides reliable performance, ensuring that corrosion coupons can be retrieved and replaced accurately and efficiently, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity and longevity of pipeline systems.

5. Retrieval of Corrosion Coupon

  • Install the Adapter where the Pipe Plug was located.
  • Attach and tighten the Hammer Nut and Service Valve; keep the Service Valve open.
  • Secure the Retriever on the Service Valve.
  • Use the Plug Drive to rotate and lift the corrosion coupon.
  • Close the Service Valve and Bypass Valve.
  • Open the Bleed Valve to release pressure.
  • Drain the tool via the top sealing screw, then close it.
  • Detach the Retriever to complete the coupon removal.

6. Installation of Corrosion Coupon

  • Reattach the Retriever with the coupon to the Service Valve.
  • Close the Bleed Valve and open the Bypass Valve to equalize pressure.
  • Open the Service Valve.
  • Insert the coupon using the Plug Drive, securing it in place.
  • Following installation, repeat the depressurization steps and remove the Retriever.
  • Finally, remove the Hammer Nut, Service Valve, and Adapter, reinstating the Pipe Plug and protective cover.

7. Maintenance and Care

Ensure that each component of the pressure removal tool is cleaned and dried after use. Apply grease to areas containing O-rings to protect against corrosion and ensure longevity of the tool.

Adhering to these expanded maintenance and care instructions will help in preserving the functional integrity and safety of the corrosion coupon retrieval tool, ensuring it remains a reliable part of pipeline maintenance operations.
